Team Selections

August 23rd, 2010  |  by annronan  |  published in Match Notices

Please note that invitations to play on a team are issued using teamer.net   ALL players are asked to respond to these messages as quickly as possible - you should have sight of your matches well in advance to know if you are not going to be available.

If a player does not reply within 2 days to a teamer invite, they may be de-selected from the team at the discretion of the coach and team manager.  Most teams are over-subscribed and if you do not reply to a teamer then you are impacting on one of your fellow players who is waiting for a selection notice.

U14 and U16

Teams are selected based on ability at these age groups.  The selection committee consider both playing position and ability as part of the process. Other factors include attendance, focus at training and general commitment to the club.  It is possible to be moved up or down a team as the season progresses.

U8/U10/U12

While there are no formal leagues at U8/10/12 sections we still use Teamer to invite players to sessions - this is because from time to time other clubs cannot cope with our numbers and we need to split the groups.  Also at this level we are sometimes asked to group players according to equal ability or mixed ability so it becomes necessary to have some light selection.

Weather Policy!

August 11th, 2010  |  by annronan  |  published in Match Notices, Training Notices

Hockey is an all-weather sport - and in club hockey training/matches are rarely cancelled due to weather conditions…. generally speaking only snow or ice on the pitch is a reason to cancel…

We will endevor to make the decision regarding training and home friendly matches by 9am - if it is very wet.

If the forecast is for conditions to improve, we will hold off on making a decision for HOME LEAGUE matches until 12 o’clock.

For AWAY games it will be up to the opposing club to make the decision regarding their pitches. SO…please do not assume that because one game is cancelled that all games will be cancelled or that because it is raining that training will be cancelled.

Please feel free to use parental discretion in the event of rain for a training session….. but please, at U14/16 (league teams) do not let your team down if the match or training event is going ahead.

We use the messaging system to cancel matches or training - so it would be appreciated if you could refrain from calling coaches/managers to find out whether training or matches are on. Coaches will be trying to get calls to/from the other clubs and the coaches to make decisions on whether we train/play.

Interested in Coaching?

We are on the lookout for more coaches – particularly in the younger age groups. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us.
