The Coaches

Traditionally the coaching group has been made up past members, senior club players and parents. Over the past couple of years it has been necessary to supplement the volunteers with additional coaches, particularly in the senior ages (under 16 & 14). We have also made great use of the transition year students with the under 8s and under 10s.

All parent/volunteer coaches are funded by the club to go through at least the Leinster Branch Introductory Level coaching course. In the older section the coaching team all hold at a minimum Leinster/Irish branch Level 1 qualifications or equivalent.  In general, the Under 12 section coaches have also achieved this standard.

There is a coaching plan drawn up for each of the Under 8/10/12 sections which the coaching teams follow from week to week. The focus for these age groups is primarily the basic skills – however, the Under 12 team are looking to add in greater challenges over coming months. Also at this level we try to have a much greater number of coaches available – we aim for 1:8 or 1:10 max.

We are on the lookout for more coaches – particularly in the younger age groups. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact us.
